Illustration

In honor of Daddacats' holiday visit, here is one of his vintage illustrations.
I think I could operate a whole blog on his doodles alone.
Happy Holidays from our happy family to yours !

Meet The Gang or in Preparation of the Handmade Ornament Swap

Our friends aren't really crafters. It works out well at the annual handmade ornament swap because they usually fight over our handmade ornaments. For 2008, we made a little obama clothespin doll and a sarah palin (i refuse to capitalize that) voodoo doll. They were a hit.
Last year, we pulled out the big guns with little finger sized ornaments hand drawn in everyone's likeness. We printed them onto fabric and cut, sewed, stuffed, and bam! ornaments. They were also, a hit. Gosh, brag much?
This year, I'm not sure how we're going to top ourselves but we'll get into that later. For now, we'd like to go ahead and introduce you to our gang.

From Sadie's Kitchen

Those are the two words to best describe the happenings of our house lately. In other words, we have been cooking up a hurricane. A category five, to be exact.

A beautiful Turkey Brine bubbling away with aromatic celery, onions, carrots, and herbs

A turkey, looking naked and vulnerable just before we got quite intimate with it, by rubbing in between the skin and meat with a fresh herb and butter mix.

Ain't she purty?
Baking to a golden brown underneath her butter and white wine soaked cheesecloth blanket.

We used a combination of recipes and cooking techniques from the domestic goddess Martha, herself.
Get on my plate, shredded apart turkey meat.

Good.
Now get in my belly with your sexy baked onions and apples.
Good.

From scratch Orange Scented Cranberry Sauce simmering away...

Winter Sangria with black cherry soda, sweet-tart cranberries and oranges...makes me miss Mexico.

These are something very special, we'd like to share with you.
Something so yummy and fun and pretty we couldn't WAIT to share with you.
Bacon Sprinkles! That's right, you heard me. Candied Bacon Sprinkles....droooooolll
We made them especially for our piece de resistance:

Yes, to answer your question. They are absolutely as good as they look.

Mini size to boot so shove the whole thing in your mouth.

Served alongside these beautiful dishes made by our friends and family:

Ah yes, another one on the books.
Now time for a nap.
