We recently purchased a new duvet cover from Ikea that I'm in love with. Except our old art no longer went with the new bedroom colors, so we made some.

Designed in Illustrator, printed and fit into some small frames. We will upload the photo as soon as the replacement cable gets here. We have a bunch to upload actually...we've been a bit busy! So stay tuned!

Graphic Onesies for Baby Barnes

We love our yudu machine! With the help of some 220 mesh screens and The Graphics Fairy we were delighted to lift the screen and find these adorable onesies peeking up at us.

We weren't sure if they would actually turn out right.

But we like the imperfections.

We made these especially for our friend's little bundle, scheduled to arrive in late July.

 Hope she likes them!

Food Dice & Happy Birthday Patrick!

Our little brothers birthday is Sunday

 

And he loves to cook

 

So to celebrate, we made him something fun to help him cook

 We call them Food Dice! Each die has six sides of its own food item category. For instance, the meat die features Poultry, Beef, Fish, Tofu, Pork & a free square. There are also die for grains, veggies, herbs & spices and a couple of special die featuring delicacy items like Truffles, Coffee, Ginger, Lemon, & Caviar.

 No idea what to cook tonight? Give 'em a toss! This roll netted us a dish featuring: 

Poultry, Foie Gras, Couscous, Tomato, Cheese & Cayenne! Interesting, huh?

 This roll denotes we'll be cooking something with Pork, Corn, Chiles, Lemon, Caviar and a free space denotes that we can either stop there or add whatever we want! 

We just can't wait for Patrick to cook us something!!

 Oh, and then there's Fess. He's pretty damn cool.

Amazing Crochet Reef

Crochet Reef At Smithsonian’s Natural History Museum Is a Masterpiece of Yarn

From the photos, it seems surreal that yarn could be made to look like aquatic creatures and coral reefs, and yet they really manage it. Beyond being beautiful to look at, the exhibit also has an environmental message. The exhibit is the work of at least 800 women and men, ranging from a three-year-old to a Centenarian, who hope that through their work they can attract attention to the degraded state of the World’s coral reefs. Twenty percent of the world’s coral reefs have been destroyed in the past few decades. Global warming, ocean acidification, overfishing and overpopulation are all threats that face coral reefs.

The organizers, Margaret and Christine Wertheim, are from Australia, where the project, which has since traveled around the world, started began.The sisters, an artist and a scientific journalist, wanted to highlight the blight of their beloved Great Barrier Reef. Beyond being beautiful and carrying an important message, the exhibit also shows the hyperbolic geometry of coral. In 1997, mathematician Daina Taimina recognized that the crochet stitch represents this complex geometry.

Wherever the exhibit travels to, the Wertheim sisters encourage the local community to create its own reef. These community efforts remove some of the bleakness of the message that the colorful coral reefs may not be around forever, and provide hope that by working together maybe we can avert disaster, and the coral reefs will outlast us after all, even if that three-year-old ends up being a centenarian.
